Honey-cake / Ginger bread - Piernik

Etymology of the word "piernik" is not so hard to understand - "pierny" is a word used in old-polish to express something that is spicy, over-peppered. Piernik is a traditional kind of cake baked mostly before Christmas (even a week or so). It uses a lot of flavorful spices (for me the more the better) such as pepper, nutmeg and cloves - because of that it is similar to ginger bread well known around the world.

Presented Piernik tastes far more better than famous gingerbread cookies from Toruń (I lived in the city for few years).

This is one of my favorite recipes that remind me of my childhood. All the preparation is easy and takes just few minutes.

Pancakes - Naleśniki

Pancakes ("naleśniki") are commonly eaten as a second and main dish during the day ("obiad"). Preparation time is really short. They may be used as a base for sweet or dry dishes.
